SYNOPSIS

With systematic organized crime of forced disappearances unattended and unpunished in Mexico, widespread atrocities leave behind lingering grief and remnants of disturbed memories. Tania intents to leave her hometown where her father has been taken away from by the authorities, however, she must confront what her absence will mean to her family and their ongoing search for him.

DIRECTOR’S BIO

Carlos Lenin

Carlos Lenin is a Mexican filmmaker from Linares, Mexico. Berlinale Talents Alumni 2019. He specialized in film directing at the National School of Film Arts (ENAC - UNAM), and participated in the Workshop for Directors by Abbas Kiarostami at the 4th IBAFF. His short film 24º 51’ North Latitude (2015) premiered at Morelia International Film Festival and received the Orona Prize at the 64th San Sebastian Film Festival. It was nominated for Best Mexican Short Film by the Mexican Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences at the Ariel awards and it won 5 awards at Shorts Mexico, including Best Short Film, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Sound and the Warriors of the Press Award. In 2019 he premiered his first feature film The Dove and The Wolf (2019) at the 72nd Locarno Film Festival where he was awarded the Swatch Art Peace Hotel Award. The film also won Best Mexican Feature Film at Los Cabos Film Festival 2019, FICUNAM 2020 and Black Canvas 2020, Best Feature Film at the 49th Sehsüechte International Student film festival. The film was selected for the New Directors/New Films Festival at New York’s Lincoln Center.
